Reflections from 10 Discovery Calls, 2 Weeks In
Gratitude, FFTs, Observations, Errors, Learning, and Confirmation
The Beginning of the Beginning
About a month ago, I sent an email out to 30 people and over half booked with me - in support, to help me, and maybe with curiosity. (If you are interested please let me know: krisnsmith@pm.me)
After just over 2 weeks, 10 Compatibility/Discovery calls have been completed which is well beyond my expectations.
The Notes
Gratitude: So grateful to all you who have stepped up to help and play full out with me. Thank You!
Confirmation: It is clear that I LOVE this and feel a calling here…amazing to confirm it! Thank you.
FFT’s (Fking First Times): internet slowness, Zoom issues, Zoom account stuff, wrong links, background playfulness, new guy errors, and more.
Unique Snowflakes: Every call is different. Its an obvious statement yet needs to be stated. Each interaction is One-of-One. So good.
Powerful People: I have some lovely, intelligent, powerful (in personality, presence, and life), and generous people in my life. Makes for interesting interactions.
“Successful” people are really hard on themselves.
“I should be happier” comes up a lot. Similar too “there’s something missing”.
“Success” is truly an individual measure (so why then do we measure against others?!).
The people who agree to have a call may be very different than the people who show up on the call. Life is always changing, testing, and even a poor (or amazing) sleep can be a factor. I am learning to calibrate that.
My assumption and biases are not valuable. How I think it might go often proves to be way off base, in a good way.
People carry a lot. On top of careers, partnerships, kids, parents, volunteering and just getting shit done.
So far, the concept of the weight we carry has resonated most frequently. And the idea that you get to choose how you carry it can be empowering.
Sonder: “The profound realization that every random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.”
This is different simply than us being unique snowflakes, it’s also our lives, the lived experience, what has happened.
Humility: not everyone is as excited about this as I am. Appreciate the reminder.
Feedback: has been so helpful, uplifting, humbling, and needed.
Y.A.F.A. - You Are Fking Awesome! is my new model to add to the coaching pantheon. Basically, one of the services I provide, if it seems needed/helpful, is to help you remember all the good that you are and that you are doing.
The Shit List get’s way too much attention. This is a reflection of me as well. We may all benefit from more attention on the Good List.
So far so good…let’s keep going.
The Actual Beginning…
I HAVE A CLIENT!
So awesome. Yes!
